Our client is based in the Asia Pacific region is a Government-owned electricity distribution and retail company providing a 24-hour service to more than 255,000 customers based. Their key focus has always been to prosper by being the most welcome company into people’s homes and businesses.

Business Challenges


Develop POS terminal application that would be compatible with the existing smart card formats and application logic for electricity vending.

Extend the functionality by building a vending interface that allows the third party to communicate with the Siemens host system.

Building up back office system functionality that caters for the management of the associated vending infrastructure.

System should make provision for Top Up, New Card, Stand By, Replacement Card, Verify Card and Refund functionality.

Solution Highlights


SYSTIME designed and developed POS terminal application, terminal management back office system (BOS) and web service to communicate with the clients existing system.

PAYG POS System

Solution has two types of prepayment metering systems each having its own back office system, meters, smart cards and encryption mechanism which works only with their system under consideration.

Once charging is done customer can insert their smart card into the Aurora PAYG meter and the amount of credit they have purchased will be transferred to the meter.

Business Benefits


The new solution is independent of the original application and code thereby eliminating the dependency of the legacy code.

The Back Office System now consolidates all the POS terminals within the network, feeds them with data to carry day to day transactions and receives transaction data from them.

License mechanism in place has made the new application easy to use and secure in nature. Application is simplified in nature in terms of deployment and up gradation.
