In this campaign, we strove to promote a number of eco-friendly activities to ensure that SYSTIMErs, as responsible citizens, do their bit to make the world a better place for all. The "Go Green Campaign" was divided into different phases and each phase supported the reduction in consumption and preservation of our resources. To ensure that the Go Green message reaches our fellow SYSTIMErs, we invited SYSTIMErs to be ambassadors and spread this cause. These ambassadors were our Go Green Champions.

Awareness created through a short seminar by an NGO "GreenPeace"

“GreenPeace” is an NGO specialising in environmental issues and it is an internationally recognized organisation. The representative from GreenPeace explained clearly that their efforts will bear fruit only with support from Corporates and particularly the IT GenNext, who comprise a large group of committed soldiers. And he also narrated some of their experiences and said the GreenPeace movement has gathered enough mass in India to move the Powers that need to be sensitive to environmental issues.

'Eco Boxes' were introduced to collect used papers and these papers are shredded and forwarded for recycling.

Success Achieved:

We have achieved a fair amount of success in this campaign. This could be gauged from the 60% drop in usage of paper cups and the effective use of eco boxes.

"Go Green Team" and "SYS-Fun Team" came together for the Baisakhi Day event and organized 'Bicycle Race' and 'Brisk Walking' events to encourage people to use eco-friendly means of travel.

Go Green and SYS-Fun jointly celebrated the New Year and the Harvest Festivals of different regions of India on April 11, 2008. SYSTIMErs enjoyed Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Baisakhi, Vishu and Mahavishuba Sankranti. To mark this occasion, SYS-Fun and Go Green Team organised two activities followed by sweets and snacks. Slow Cycle Race was a big hit among SYSTIMErs. All the participants tried their skills on bicycles and three of them emerged winners. Brisk Walking Race, was the other flavour of the evening. Who likes to lose!!! The Brisk Walking Race turned out to be a slow running race!!! With all the cheer and energy, both the races together produced 6 winners.

On 'Earth day', we put up newspaper cut outs in the cafeteria for people to read more about global warming.

We conducted a slogan contest.

To mark the importance of the Earth Day, we had a Slogan contest. We had many participants but, had to decide the best three...

• Save the world, it's the most fascinating gift to man from heaven and any   damage done to it is irreversible.
