Wild: Changing for Oracle

Munich, March 27, 2007

A champion of the German middle-class, long-time user of SAP products and worldwide leader in the private manufacture of natural ingredients for the food and beverage industry, WILD has elected Oracle Application Software to help achieve their long-term corporate goals.

An intensive evaluation process conducted by WILD indicated that the Oracle Solution Package and Oracle E-Business Suite have clear economic and business advantages over the SAP ERP solution.

WILD is sure that this change in software will result in savings of tens of millions. This is attributed to significantly lower TCO (Total Cost of Operations) as well as the rapid return on investment (ROI) expected from launching Oracle E-Business Suite.

These savings become possible with three core characteristics of the Oracle Products: The superior ability to support process manufacturing, the ability to administer all data from a single framework (Global Single Instance), and the perfect harmony of the technical components - all managed from a single location. Oracle will provide the database, middleware and application software to WILD.

Founded in 1931 in Heidelberg, Germany, WILD’s goal was to produce alcohol-free beverages using pure and natural products. Today, WILD is the largest privately-held producer of natural ingredients for the food and beverage industry. WILD became a household name through the success of their fruit-drink “Capri-Sonne” [known in the USA as “CapriSun”], which is enjoyed in over 100 countries. It has an additional line of business known as INDAG, which is the engineering, research and production center for machinery used in the beverage and dairy industries. WILD employs approximately 2500 workers, operates 17 production facilities in 12 European countries, North America, Asia and the Middle East. It also operates branch offices in over 70 countries worldwide.

The company’s slogan, “We Create Great Taste” for the food and beverage industries is manifested by the production process, which utilizes only the highest quality items and ensures product safety. This manufacturing process is one of its core businesses. The existing IT solutions have proven to be a weak point in this critical manufacturing process. Oracle Software came up a convincing argument that it would provide benefits very early in the conversion process.

The criteria for success decided by WILD included a low risk implementation and a clear improvement in key business metrics. Increased efficiency, higher customer satisfaction and financial optimization were the other criteria.

Dr. Hans-Peter Wild, chairman and owner of WILD states, “As longtime users of SAP systems, we were convinced it was an efficient solution. Nevertheless, we began to consider solutions from Oracle as an alternative. It became clear at first sight that the Oracle applications, including the E-Business Suite and process manufacturing modules support our business much better than our current applications. At the conclusion of an intensive selection process, the overall financial advantages of selecting Oracle can be in the hundred’s of millions. Oracle is simply better and more economical. Therefore, the decision was not hard to make”.

The flexibility to comply with the needs of multiple industries is central to Oracle’s strategy. Industry leading software for manufacturing, logistics, distribution and trade, banking, insurance, transportation - to name just a few - are neatly encapsulated into a single software architecture. The requirement to develop a costly integration between different software systems (ERP, CRM, Supply Chain, Production Planning, etc.) is therefore not needed. Furthermore, by having a global data model, business decisions can be made in real time, without the need for a long and costly Data Warehouse project.

Christian von Stengel, Sales Director, ERP Applications, Oracle Germany (GmbH) states, “The cost advantages of our systems when compared to the competition are documented in many external studies, yet we were surprised to see the figures for cost and ownership that WILD identified. Dr Wild saw the financial advantages of an Oracle solution for his business immediately, and made the decision to go with Oracle on fundamental economic data and business requirements.”

“We are extremely pleased to have WILD, a renowned and worldwide successful German Company, as our customer” states Juergen Kunz, Managing Director of Oracle, Germany, GmbH.

SYSTIME, a Certified Advantage Partner of the Oracle Partner Network and official partner of the “OFF SAP” program sponsored by Oracle, was selected for the implementation of the Oracle solution at WILD. SYSTIME has been providing high quality and reliable enterprise application services on a global scale for over 30 years. Together, SYSTIME and Oracle make an attractive offering for SAP customers. Their solutions are less costly, include support and maintenance, and present an appealing conversion offering.

“We always hold our customers in the highest regard, and we will ensure that they are satisfied with the IT solutions and the solution provider. With the partnership of SYSTIME and Oracle, WILD not only selected an excellent software solution, but also a strategic partnership for long term success.” says Vishal Grover, President and CEO of SYSTIME.
